Jackson Pollock
Abstract expressionism emerged in the 1940's famously in New York where the art world shifted from Europe and was established in America.
Pollock was well known and a big figure in abstract expressionism, he created his style of painting known as 'drip' painting'.
He was always thinking outside the box for new ideas, pushing the boundaries of art. (nothing happens in a vacuum).
“The modern artist is living in a mechanical age and we have a mechanical means of representing objects in nature such as the camera and photograph. The modern artist, it seems to me, is working and expressing an inner world – in other words – expressing the energy, the motion, and other inner forces.” Jackson Pollock quote. Radio interview given in 1950on many of his paintings he was inspired by American Indian art, with the explosive colours he used on enormous canvas's some would call his work rebellious and unpredictable.
in the 1950's Pollock became the most famous artist in the world, having watched the Jackson Pollock clip of him in action by Hans Namuth I agree to Pollock being rebellious, the style he paints is incredible just large drips of a paint brush but everyone loved his work.
Personally I do not like his work much as i cant relate to it I cant discover the meanings behind his paintings and they do not excite me.
